By the end of this short tutorial, you will have Trust Wallet installed on your phone, your seed phrase securely backed up offline, and your wallet address ready to receive crypto.

Trust Wallet is available on iPhone and Android. This guide covers the mobile app where most users start; if you are on a desktop, Trust Wallet also has a browser extension. Unlike a centralized exchange, Trust Wallet is non-custodial, meaning only you hold your seed phrase and no company can freeze, access, or recover your funds.

Setting Up Trust Wallet in 5 Steps

  1. Download the app from the official source. Visit the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android). Search 'Trust Wallet' and confirm the developer is 'Trust Wallet'. Never download from a search ad or unfamiliar link.

  2. Create your wallet. Open the app and tap 'Create a New Wallet'. Trust Wallet offers a passkey option at this step; however, this guide covers the standard seed phrase, a master password made of simple words that works to recover your account across all devices and wallet apps.

  3. Write down your seed phrase. Trust Wallet gives you 12 words. Write them on paper and never screenshot or type them into a notes app. Anyone who has these words has full access to your funds. Read our seed phrase backup guide for guidance on storing it safely.

  4. Confirm your seed phrase. The app asks you to tap each word in the correct order to confirm it was written down.

  5. Find your wallet address. To receive crypto, tap the specific token you want to receive, then tap 'Receive'. Each blockchain has its own unique address, so always match the address to the token the sender is using. Your Ethereum address is different from your Bitcoin address, for example. Your wallet address is safe to share; the seed phrase is never shared. See our full guide on receiving crypto in your wallet for more detail.

What to Do Next

Moving crypto off an exchange is the natural next step. Read our guide on transferring crypto from an exchange to your wallet to continue. You can also compare wallets by features and security to explore other options.

Once your seed phrase is safely stored, Trust Wallet works like any other app on your phone.
